Study Abroad
Study abroad in Japan offers students a wonderful opportunity to study Japanese language and literature while experiencing the culture firsthand. Washington University sponsors overseas programs in Japanese at Waseda University and Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies.
Students can enroll in either of these programs for one semester, but it is highly recommended that students stay for a full academic year. Many of the students who spend a full academic year abroad are majoring in Japanese Language and Literature or International Area Studies/East Asia Concentration. However, students in Engineering, Fine Arts, pre-med, and Business have also participated in these programs.
Students interested in summer language instruction can apply to International Christian University or Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies.
